Helping Hands – Plastic Bottle Caps

Helping Hands project is a collaboration between disadvantaged employment support group Envision and Rotary Wyndham.

Envision is asking us to collect plastic bottle caps to help to make prosthetic hands for children in Third World countries. The bottle caps are turned into filament – a plastic thread used in 3D printers. The filament is then used to make prosthetic limbs. Bottle Caps are recyclable but different to reprocess due to their size.

Collected plastic bottle caps can be delivered to Room 6 anytime.

DID YOU KNOW?

This tram is filled with 50,000 coffee cups! Guess What? Australians use more than 50,000 take away coffee cups every half hour. That’s 1 billion a year. Watch this for more information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zF9Rd8Cw-Xc

If we lined up all the coffee cups used each year in Australia they would stretch round the world……twice!

Our Year 5 and Year 6 students spend Term 1 working on creating radio segments in their Music session, and here are the results from the students who completed their segments and are happy to share. Please share this around because the more people who get to hear these amazing (and sometimes hilarious) segments, the bigger our audience!
