Monday last week the year 2 students had a fantastic experience exploring how people used to live in the past by visiting Werribee Mansion. Students learned about daily life through exploring the Mansion, gardens and farm at Werribee Park and had hands on experience about how people used to wash clothes in the 1800’s.

5/6 Cultural Infusion Incursion

Posted by Miss Scarrott | Posted in History | Posted on November 27, 2013

Yesterday the 5/6’s had an excellent day learning about aboriginal culture. We all enjoyed listening to Dreamtime story telling, making aboriginal paintings and learning aboriginal dances. At the end of the day we enjoyed watching some of the students dance and the best part was watching the dance off between Mr Millar and Mitchell.

The 3/4 students also enjoyed the same incursion last term.

What was your favourite thing about the experience?

Wahroonga – My Home, Our Home

In Term 3, the grade 3/4’s had an amazing time learning by using the Character’s Writers Notebook. As part of our integrated unit, we learnt about Aboriginal Tribes and the impact of Settlers from England. This included exploring who lived here first and how do we know? We also investigated how and why people choose to remember significant events of the past.  The students explored what life was like for Aboriginal people before the arrival of the Europeans and the impact of First Settlement.

Have a look at our photos. We had a great night!
